Team Fortress 2 has been announced to join Funko Fusion as DLC content, sparking outrage among fans as the game is still suffering from a bot problem.
The announcement comes as it has been more than six years since the last major update for the team-based first-person shooter game. Funko Fusion is a Funko Pop-themed video game that is coming out later this year.
Funko Fusion's Team Fortress DLC
The latter was first revealed in April 2023 and is a third-person action-adventure game that plays similar to the recent Lego games. However, the major difference is that it replaces all of the Lego minifigs with Funko Pop figurines.
Funko Fusion will feature various characters and worlds from different movies, TV shows, and games. Some of these include Nope, Jurassic Park, Megan, The Thing, Hot Fuzz, The Mummy, and many more.
The latest announcement has confirmed that this list will be expanding with the addition of Team Fortress 2 characters being playable in the pop-culture fever dream, according to Kotaku.
The new Team Fortress 2 character DLC pack for Funko Fusion went live on Steam and was spotted by a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, on July 1, 2024. The new DLC will be free for all Steam users and contains playable Funko Pop versions of Heavy, Scout, Medic, and Engineer.

On the official Steam store page of the DLC, it is described as, "Packing more punch than the sandvich, this all-action add on is kind of a big deal! Relive some of your favorite Team Fortress 2 moments in Funko Fusion with these characters."
As for why the other characters from Team Fortress 2 are not included in the new DLC for Funko Fusion, it seems that Valve did not have enough time to make figures for them. The outrage among players stems from the DLC announcement coming as the game itself is plagued with bots.
Growing Player Criticism
Players have been calling out to Valve demanding that the company address the current issue in Team Fortress 2. Many users took to Reddit to vent their frustration and the top thread on the Team Fortress 2 subreddit is about Funko Fusion, said PCGamer.
One user said that they were genuinely more in favor of letting bots overrun Team Fortress 2 than for the DLC cross-over to happen. Another said that a Team Fortress 2 update is coming anywhere but the game itself.
However, some people have been more positive about the development, with one user saying that the DLC content means that there will be more physical Team Fortress 2 Funkos. It could also mean that Valve has more updates for the first-person shooter planned for the future.
Following the recent outrage with Team Fortress 2's problem with bots in-game, many players review bombed it on Steam. This caused the review score to plummet into the "Overwhelmingly Negative" category.
This comes despite a recent ban wave that marked efforts by the developer to purge some of the botting accounts. However, this seems to have had very little effect on the game's poor sentiment among players, according to PCGamesN.
