Final Fantasy XIV's Dawntrail expansion introduces a lot of new content for players to experience, including the new Pictomancer job.
In this guide, you will learn exactly how you can unlock the artsy Pictomancer job as well as how to maximize its effectiveness in the world of Hydaelyn. The Pictomancer is a ranged, magical DPS character that sports a cute base outfit.
Unlocking the Pictomancer Job
Players can unlock the Pictomancer job in one of the base areas, meaning you will not have to wait until you actually arrive on those distant shores to play as the new character.
You first need to complete the "The Joy of Pictomancy '' quest that can be obtained by talking with the Cheerless Hearer located in Old Gridania.
After taking the quest, travel to New Gridania and interact with the Destination spot, and a cutscene will play where you learn about the job and Relm. You then have to speak with Kupopo about your interview and answer the questions however you like, according to The Gamer.
When you finish with the interview, go speak to Kupopo again in order to complete the quest and you will be rewarded with Soul of the Pictomancer, Weathered Painter's Attire Coffer, and Weather Round Brush. You will now be able to switch roles to the newly added Pictomancer job.

After doing so, there is a new quest that you can take on called "Mind over Manor," which is given by Kupopo in New Gridania. You will need to go back to Old Gridania and talk to the Cheerless Hearer for a cutscene.
Then, travel to )X:11.7, Y:4.4) and speak with Kupopo once more so that you can put your Pictomancer skills to the test.
This particular quest will also teach you about Motifs. When you finish learning about the basics of the job, speak with Kupopo to proceed and follow them down to the next level to learn about the Palette Gauge.
Strengths of the New Job
Making full use of the Pictomancer job is done by learning how best to use a caster, which requires mastering positioning, especially for high-end content. Unlike melee or physical-based ranged jobs, the Pictomancer needs to stay still in order to complete casting, said PCGamersN.
In order to be a successful Pictomancer, you need some proper resource management to keep in mind but this will pay off during the job's burst moments. The first few spells that you can get familiar with are the aetherhue spells that make up the job's light paint combo.
The main 1-2-3 combo is Fire in Red, Aero in Green, and Water in Blue, and finishing this will grant you 25 Palette Gauge as well as one charge of White Paint. These spells have AoE versions with the same name but with "II" after them.
When the Palette Gauge reaches 50, players will be able to use the Subtractive Palette, which allows them to dish out stronger basic combo attacks. These are Blizzard in Cyan, Stone in Yellow, and Thunder in Magenta, according to CBR.
