Fortnite Patch Notes Highlight Reload Duos Mode Support, Other Minor Changes

Fortnite just dropped the patch notes for a new update that includes Reload Duos mode support, bringing nostalgia for players by allowing them to play with a friend or a random teammate.

The Duos mode features 20 teams of two players each who will have to fight against the rest to secure the Victory Royale. The announcement of the mode's inclusion surprised many fans of the game when Epic Games took to social media platforms to confirm its release.

With the arrival of the Duos mode, the studio has seemingly done more than simply add it to Fortnite Reload but also made some changes along the way. The patch notes reveal that certain in-game mechanics have been changed to provide players with a more efficient and balanced experience.

All of the tweaks that were made with the release of Fortnite Reload Duos include increased crawling speed while a player is "down-but-not-out," increased drop rate for Shotguns in chests, and decreased drop rate for Mythic and Exotic items, according to Sportskeeda.

These particular changes seem to be a result of both player feedback and experience ever since the release of Fortnite Reload. The first of these is a clear step towards Epic Games pushing the Reload mode as a faster-paced experience than the regular Battle Royale.

With the addition of the Duos mode, players are now asking the question of when or if Trios will be added to Fortnite Reload as well. One piece of good news for players who want this can be found in the files for Fortnite Reload as revealed by various leakers.

What this means is that the developers are already probably planning ways to introduce Trios mode to Fortnite Reload very soon. While there is no confirmed date for this, it is expected that some new information will be shared after Epic Games is back from its Summer Break for 2024.

A Minor Patch

The Duos mode support for Fortnite Reload comes after the latter was only released less than a week ago.

Prior to the latest patch, the only way to play Duos mode was in Squads. Fortnite Reload takes place on an original map that features classic locations such as Tilted Towers, Pleasant Park, and Retail Row, said IGN.

Additionally, it features its own loot pool that is filled with classic weapons such as the Lever Action Shotgun, the Revolver, the Infantry Rifle, and the Rocket Launcher.

And unlike the regular Battle Royale Mode, Fortnite Reload can support up to 40 players where if you are eliminated, you will automatically be rebooted.

This is true as long as your teammate manages to stay in the game and you can also speed up your reboot timer by taking out other teams. The Duos mode was added with the v30.10 update that affected PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android.

When the update dropped, Epic Games also confirmed that it had decided to reschedule both the Duos Cash Cup and Zero Build Duos Cash Cups in OCE and Asia. They will now be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, according to DualShockers.
