Concord Update: Sony Reveals Beta Early Access, Open Beta Dates

Sony has released new information regarding its upcoming PvP hero shooter Concord, particularly the dates for the game's beta early access and open beta periods.

The update comes as the reveal of the game during the company's last showcase was met with some boos from the audience. Some people pointed out that Concord was simply just another Overwatch rip-off.

However, a hands-on preview of the upcoming PvP hero shooter proved to be a defining point for the company as it separates itself from other games in the genre. What's more, Concord was definitely described as being fun by many and could even be the multiplayer hit of the summer.

While there are some obvious similarities between Concord and Overwatch, such as a bunch of characters with guns, that's not all that there is. It was also apparent that some ex-Bungie developers are now working at developer Firewalk Studios.

The majority of characters in Concord are capable of double jumping and there is also at least one that can triple jump and another who could temporarily hover. Characters can also dodge, which temporarily makes the view from a third-person perspective, according to PCGamer.

In a preview of Concord last week, some players were able to play three different modes where the first is a kill confirmed-style mode and the other two were no-respawn modes. The latter two had rounds that were won either by playing an objective or eliminating the enemy team.

So far, Concord has 16 distinct characters that will be available at launch and many players will surely enjoy theory-crafting the meta composition that will run through everyone else.

Each character is significantly different from one another in terms of mobility, deadliness, utility, and durability and there are even variations within those categories.

Another PvP Hero Shooter

The heroes that are included in Sony's PvP hero shooter also have their own unique guns as well as two abilities and a passive skill but no ultimates. While some may find this particular choice a bad one, others think that it's a good way to set the game apart from titles such as Valorant or Overwatch.

For now, Sony's Concord will have its beta early access from July 12, 2024, to July 14, 2024, and the open beta will run from July 18, 2024, to July 21, 2024. The early access on the weekend will be available for users on PlayStation 5 and PC, said the PlayStation Blog.

People who pre-ordered the game will be able to take part in the early access weekend and be among the first ones to try out the upcoming PvP hero shooter. What's more, is that you will be able to bring a crew with you as those who pre-ordered will be given five codes for Concord Beta Early Access.

When Sony first teased Concord last year with a simple video that showcased a ship cruising through space, some people expected to see a story-driven first-person shooter. Despite revealing it to be a PvP hero shooter, the game still manages to keep its world lore and ongoing storyline, according to IGN.
