8BitDo has announced its latest budget-friendly wireless controller, the Ultimate 2C, priced at $29.99. The new controller boasts additional shoulder buttons to elevate the gaming experience for PC and Android users. It features Hall effect sticks and triggers to prevent common issues like the Switch's "Joy-Con drift." Connectivity options include USB-C, a 2.4GHz dongle with 1,000Hz polling rates, and Bluetooth.

Key Features and Connectivity
The Ultimate 2C is set to release on July 15, as listed on Amazon. This controller offers several new features compared to last year's Ultimate C model, maintaining the same price point of $29.99. Despite its impressive feature set, there are some limitations. The Bluetooth compatibility is restricted to Android devices, excluding support for the Nintendo Switch, other consoles, and Apple devices. Additionally, using it wirelessly with a PC requires the included dongle.
This new controller is not compatible with 8BitDo's customization software, which allows for adjusting trigger and stick sensitivity and remapping buttons. However, it includes an extra pair of "L4" and "R4" buttons located beneath the shoulder buttons. These can be remapped to replicate other buttons' functions without additional software.
Design and Battery Life
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C continues the brand's trend towards colorful controller options. It will be available in green, purple, peach, and a new mint color featuring a light green housing with vibrant orange buttons and sticks.
Other notable features include refined bumpers and a recalibrated D-pad for a smoother feel, as well as Hall effect joysticks and triggers for higher precision and sensitivity. The controller offers a low-latency response with a 1000Hz polling rate under both 2.4G and wired connections.
In terms of battery life, the Ultimate 2C is equipped with a 480mAh Li-ion battery, providing up to 19 hours of playtime using the 2.4G connection and up to 32 hours via Bluetooth.
