Black Desert Online's Heidel Ball Update Adds More Content, Including New Class

Black Desert Online got an update during the Heidel Ball event that announced what content it would be adding, including a new class.

On top of the new Dosa class, the latest update will also introduce the Land of the Morning Light Seoul. The Heidel Ball event, which was held in the real-life medieval French city that inspired the in-game location, included an announcement from developer Pearl Abyss.

The new class was reportedly inspired by Korean folklore, similar to the Woosa and Maegu classes that came before it.

The massively multiplayer online game has been leaning into its Korean roots with the recent Land of the Morning Light expansion. The second part of the DLC is set to introduce Seoul this coming August.

The new Dosa class is set to arrive on July 3, 2024, and will mark Black Desert Online's 28th class overall. In the reveal trailer, the class was shown to be wielding his sword and a pipe in order to deal damage against enemies.

The class' backstory is reportedly rooted in the upcoming Seoul update, according to MMORPG.

The sword of the new class known as the Hwando seems to have taken inspiration from a real-life Joseon general, Yi Sun-sin. The pipe that Dosa wields also appears to be able to summon the "power of Do arts." Wielding both weapons, the new class harnesses umbral energies and summons the Warriors of Fog.

The developer describes the combat of the new Dosa class as fluid and precise, adding that it would be enjoyable to play even for beginners who are just getting into Black Desert Online.

The Warriors of Fog will also react appropriately to the amount of enemies that are surrounding the new class at any given time.

The Land of the Morning Light: Seoul was also featured and Pearl Abyss showcased locations that would be included in the next expansion of the game. It was also fitting that the upcoming DLC was announced in the real-life town that inspired one of the major cities players find in Black Desert Online itself.

A Ton of New Content

The new update comes as a celebration of Pearl Abyss' 10th anniversary of Black Desert Online. The livestream for the new expansion was held in southern France at the castle on top of the hill.

The developer builds on last year's content for the MMO and was also able to re-create Hwanghae Do, which will be the setting to conclude stories from the previous expansion. Players will be reunited with companions that they had in the original expansion, such as Dolswe, said BleedingCool.

That particular companion will invite players back to the capital city and the greater Hwanghae Province and will unlock eight new stories tied to folktales. On top of all these, the new update will also add several new boss fights to challenge players' skills.

There are also a variety of guild changes made to the game as well as the introduction of a 100-story dungeon. Furthermore, Pearl Abyss showed players what they can expect from Black Desert Online moving into the future, according to MassivelyOP.
