Microsoft's Official Statement

A Microsoft spokesperson shared, "We're excited for the launch of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. We can't comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders, but we remain focused on making Xbox the best platform for gamers, and great games are at the center of that."

This statement was first reported by Windows Central and was later confirmed by IGN. It highlights Microsoft's commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences while acknowledging the ongoing efforts to optimize the game for Xbox Series X/S.

Developer's Explanation for the Delay

During The Game Awards 2023, Game Science, the developer of Black Myth: Wukong, announced that the game would release on August 20, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, the Summer Game Fest trailer, released earlier this month, did not mention the Xbox Series X/S version, raising questions among gamers.

In an FAQ, Game Science explained the reason for the delay, stating, "We are currently optimizing the Xbox Series X|S version to meet our quality standards, so it won't release simultaneously with the other platforms. We apologize for the delay and aim to minimize the wait for Xbox users. We will announce the release date as soon as it meets our quality standards."

Despite these explanations, rumors persisted that Game Science might have an exclusivity deal with Sony, a point which Microsoft's statement indirectly addresses.
