The original Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope is getting an enhanced edition as part of the franchise's 10th anniversary celebrations and will be available on Steam.
Developer Yacht Club Games is going back to where it all started and will be making Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX. This is the enhanced edition of the game but there is currently no release date confirmed so far despite it being "coming soon."
Enhanced Edition of Original Shovel Knight Game
The upcoming version of the game will introduce new and exciting features, including the ability for players to choose their champion across a lineup of 20 unique characters. There will also be the new "Rewind" feature and save states that will most notably ease the platforming pressures.
Fans of the franchise will also be able to enjoy some co-op action across local and online multiplayer and feature stereoscopic 3D. The official description of the enhanced edition reads that you will embark on a quest to save Shield Knight.
On top of this, you will also have to defeat the evil Enchantress and bring down her formidable Order of No Quarter. The enhanced edition will let you dive into action with the classic Shovel Knight but also lets you team up with Shield Knight and even play as the Enchantress herself, according to NintendoLife.
When playing together with friends or other people across the world, you can tackle the main adventure or explore other challenges as well.
The developer also brought back fan-favorite features from all previous versions of the game. These include Challenge Stages, Custom Knight, and the Battle Ghost Arena.

With the new Rewind feature, you have the power to perfect your platforming skills and the Save States let you pause and plan your next moves. The game will feature more than 300 classic gameplay-twisting cheats and players can customize their experience to make it as challenging or as weird as they want.
All of these cheats can be enabled simultaneously, which will more likely than not offer endless ways for players to remix their adventures. Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX is described as the definitive version of the game.
A Ton of New Features
The upcoming game is a separate title from Treasure Trove and is said to be Yacht Club Games's way of preserving the game's historical functionality. They wanted to ensure that these elements remain available for future generations of players, said PCGamesN.
On top of the enhanced edition title, Yacht Club Games is also working on a brand new storyline in the Shovel Knight franchise.
In a statement, the developer noted that they are committed to crafting an experience for players that will not only honor the legacy of the series but also "pioneers groundbreaking, innovative gameplay mechanics."
There are also some brand new merchandise, live events, and cameos that are on the way, including Shovel Knight "refeaturing" in games such as For Honor, Brawlhalla, and Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout.
Yacht Club Games also shared new footage of Mina the Hollower, which is latest project that seems to have been heavily inspired by the Game Boy classic The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, according to The Verge.
