Everywhere: Upcoming Multiplayer Sandbox is Getting a Closed Beta Next Week

A former Grand Theft Auto (GTA) producer is releasing a closed beta for their upcoming multiplayer sandbox game, Everywhere, next week.

The one behind the latest project is Leslie Benzies and the game is a "zero-code toolset" for aspiring game developers to build experiences or remix other people's and share them with the community. This is something that feels a lot like Media Molecule's Dreams.

The Builder's Beta will become available for PC players on June 18, 2024, and will feature a lot of content to use, play, and remix from a number of studios.

What we know so far is that the free-to-play toolset that powers the project is called Arcadia. It includes building tools, a self-publishing system, and a library of assets.

The virtual items, including small props, enemies, puzzles, and entire levels, are known as Stamps. These can be shared with other players and can be edited and reshaped to take on new purposes, according to Eurogamer.

In a statement, Benzies said that players will not have to be professional programmers to create something amazing in Everywhere. He noted that the introduction of the Stamp system to building experience eliminates the "blank canvas" problem.

This allows you to select, reuse, and even remix the best content from the community that you want, which makes the entire process faster and smoother. He also said that in the digital age, there was an explosion of technology and content platforms, including social media.

This has democratized the art of remixing and the tools and resources that are necessary for crafting derivative works are now within the reach of any person. This is a concept that would have been considered unthinkable just a few years back.

A preview that was showcased last year by developer Build a Rocket Boy showed various details of MindsEye, which is an episodic AAA game that is being created inside Everywhere. There was no mention of this being part of the upcoming beta.

Sharing With the Community

Everywhere comes as various games, such as Fortnite and Roblox, already have their own user-generated content (UGC) tools. These have seen massive success and have been praised by the community, said PCGamer.

The upcoming game will let players kitbash custom assets, code, and sound effects together to create some very complicated stuff. Everywhere will let prospective players get their hands on these tools in the beta. You can sign up for it on the official website if you are already over the age of 16.

The developer also uploaded a detailed, 15-minute explainer video for the tools where content designer Liam Shannon talked about kitbashing together an aquatic obstacle course. This was fabricated from stamps in a short period of time.

The studio also said that anything from a small trap to a massive boss fight or a level filled with enemies and puzzles can be shared across the community. It added that Everywhere is a haven for limitless creativity, adding that they credit everyone's contribution.

This means that every game will have a full list of users who made it possible through the elements that they created independently or together, according to GameSpot.
