If you live near a Sears and are in the market for a Wii U, you might want to stop whatever you're doing and head over there right now.
Reddit user i_did_not_enjoy_that posted up a picture that his friend sent him via Snapchat, and it kinda makes me want to kick myself for buying a launch Wii U.
Reading "You bet your ass I bought it," the picture shows a deluxe Wii U bundle priced at $99.97, a far cry from the $349.99 price tag that the system debuted with. And this was no mistake, according to redditor TheOmni in the comment section:
"I actually work for Sears," TheOmni said. "That's the original Deluxe edition that came out at release. Sears stopped carrying that one and now has a different one.
"When an item in the store is no longer carried it gets marked as clearance and the price is dropped in multiple steps, going to either 75% or 90% off before it is returned to the manufacturer. Normally items like this will not last that long. What I'm betting happened is that this particular box was misplaced (perhaps in the stockroom behind the newer version) and was found and placed on the floor after it hit that price."
Wow, that's pretty awesome. Obviously it'd be a long shot to get one, but perhaps a trip to your local Sears is in order just to make sure they don't have any of these launch models. Build it into your trip to the grocery store today or something.
