4J Studios and Mojang have just released the Candy Texture pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. As with past texture packs (like the City Texture Pack) it merely provides new looks for blocks. It's up to you to do things with them, constructing your own gingerbread houses and sweets as you please. The pack contains all manner of treats and delights, like easter eggs, chocolate bunnies, gingerbread men, and candy cane creepers.
While Candy Crush Saga developer King is behind multiple frivolous lawsuits for games utilizing the words "candy" and "saga", determined to become the only game with candy in it, it has laid off of the legal action and perhaps Minecraft is safe. It seemed as thought King was only picking on little guys without the resources to defend themselves anyway, and they only retracted things when the public came out against them.
So- Candy in Minecraft! PS3 Edition owners will have to wait a bit to play with this, although the upcoming Patch 1.06 will contain it, as well as the Natural Texture Pack and other (undetermined) updates.
PC owners of course can download nearly limitless amounts of extra content and mods, and those folks are probably laughing every time Xbox 360 and PS3 owners get a feature that they've had for years now.
Regardless, the Candy Texture pack can be downloaded directly from the Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition or from Xbox.com here. It costs $0.99.
