GTA Online Summer Update: Everything You Need To Know

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Online's summer update is on the horizon and Rockstar Games will kick off the season with a variety of new features.

Rockstar Games is adding a new experience for players to engage in, which is bounty hunting, and is perfect for people who want to take the law into their own hands. The latest update will give you the ability to take part in some off-the-books police work for Vincent Effenburger.

Everyone's favorite boy in blue has some less-than-legitimate jobs that he needs someone to do and he is offering plenty of rewards for players who decide to help him out. GTA Online's summer update will also feature a series of new vehicles for you to buy, or steal.

It will also implement a payout increase for various modes and missions that players can complete in the game.

Several missions will receive this treatment and while Rockstar Games has not yet released an official list of those that will be affected, it has confirmed three of them so far, Taxi Work, Open Wheel Races, and Operation Paper Trail, according to GameSpot.

On top of adding a new bounty hunting feature, questionable police work, and increased rewards, the summer update will also include a variety of new features for the GTA Online Creator.

These are things such as custom Drift Race tracks and Drag Race circuits as well as some new units in all tracks, like drivers doing donuts and crowd animations. In a blog post, Rockstar Games said that Testing Races will become easier.

This is done by creators being able to launch tests from any chosen checkpoint and will also have the choice to race multiple rounds in Drag Races before a winner is chosen.

The studio said that there will also be a range of new improvements designed to help the community create and share their amazing Races, Deathmatches, and more.

A Ton of New Features

The summer update also includes experience updates, such as an increased Sell Mission timer that makes it easier for solo players to take on Biker and Gunrunning sales. Snacks will also automatically replenish when launching the majority of missions, said RockStar Games.

Additionally, the upcoming update will buff defensive and armor capabilities for the Sparrow and Bombushka. Players who are GTA+ members of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, will be able to claim the new Overflod Pipistrello (Super) for free when the patch launches.

Rockstar Games said that they continue to monitor and balance payouts to make sure that all mission types are fun and rewarding for players. GTA Online's summer update comes as there is hype booming for the latest game in the franchise, GTA 6.

So far, the video game studio has dropped only a single, record-breaking trailer for its new game that is set to release in fall 2025. It will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar Games has also not yet revealed any plans for GTA 6's version of GTA Online, according to IGN.
