Hogwarts Legacy's Free Summer Update is Coming Next Week: Here's What To Expect

Hogwarts Legacy is getting a free summer update on June 6, 2024, that will give players a lot of new content to enjoy.

An announcement for the upcoming content drop will include one particular feature that fans of the game have wanted since launch, which is the Photo Mode.

The new update will also let players reset talent points, add the Haunted Hogsmeade quest, and introduce a pair of glasses for your character known as The Glasses Who Live.

The latter is a reference to the protagonist of the book series and movie franchise, Harry. There will also be the new Azkaban Prisoner outfit and coat, a new Felix Felicis Potion recipe, the Lavender Borealis Broom, and the Onyx Hippogriff mount.

All of these coming with the patch make it relatively worthwhile, especially considering that it is a free summer update. However, the Haunted Hogsmeade quest is not actually new as it is technically a PlayStation-exclusive quest that Hogwarts Legacy launched with, according to Forbes.

The potion was also a pre-order exclusive and can be used to mark the location of large loot chests on the minimap. But the crucial part of the upcoming update is the Photo Mode, which is a feature that many players have been asking for.

This gives you a chance to capture captivating or horrifying moments in your journey that you can then share with other people or store for safekeeping. Since its release, Hogwarts Legacy has already sold more than 25 million copies.

It became the highest-selling game of 2023, even surpassing the juggernaut Call of Duty title in that year. However, the game's future is still unclear as the developers have not announced a sequel and Warner Bros. has openly wondered about what a live service Harry Potter game would look like.

Despite its relative success, Hogwarts Legacy has not received as frequent updates as many would have liked. This is something that has prompted concern among fans of the game but it actually makes sense as it is a single-player title, said GameRant.

Adding a New Photo Mode

While the upcoming summer update adds a lot of new things to get players to come to Hogwarts Legacy, it would most likely be the last major update for the game. The sequel may not yet be officially confirmed but it is probably already in development.

This is because there have already been several recent leaks and job postings that seem to corroborate the sequel's existence. It also seems that Avalanche Software will focus its efforts on developing the new game.

Despite Hogwarts Legacy's relative success with players, the game has been embroiled in controversy due to transphobic remarks made by Harry Potter author JK Rowling. While she did not have a hand in making the game, she stands to profit from its success, according to GameSpot.

The upcoming update, while giving players a much anticipated new feature, somehow failed to quench others' thirst. One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, said that they expected the new update to include more to keep them busy in the world of Hogwarts Legacy.
