Age of Wonders 4 developer Triumph Studios just revealed the official release date for the game's upcoming Eldritch Realms expansion which features a variety of new content.
The new update will include a new map layer for players to discover, a fresh ruler type to play with, and more tomes of magic to utilize. The upcoming DLC has officially been confirmed to be released in June 2024.

For many players out there, Age of Wonders 4 represents the peak of strategy games and the developer has continued to provide support for the title with continued DLC. The latest of which is the Primal Fury expansion. With this, there is always a reason for fans to return to the game.
The next major update for the game, the Eldritch Realms expansion, brings the Umbral Abyss, which is the new layer of the map. This is where "horrors beyond comprehension wait to consume all that is good in the world," according to PCGamesN.
Players will soon be able to try out the ruler type, which is the corrupted Eldritch Sovereigns, which brings a unique Thrall spell-casting mechanic. The Umbral Abyss map features several unique locations and independent factions of Umbral dwellers.
There are also three new Tomes; the Tome of the Tentacle, the Tome of Corruption, and the Tome of Cleansing Flame that players can try out. The developer is also adding two additional forms: Insects and Syrons, as well as two new story Realms, two new Mounts, and three new Real traits.

Triumph Studios also released a brand new trailer showcasing what players can expect to see when the Eldritch Realms expansion drops. Specifically, the upcoming update will be released on June 18, 2024, said BleedingCool.
The Eldritch Realms expansion also brings a new event system to Age of Wonders 4 where mini-crises will threaten all rulers at once in the Cosmic Happenings.
This is a series of events that each have unique tactical maps, units, and mechanics. Fortunately, they also give out powerful rewards to players who conquer them.
A Ton of New Content
The latest trailer did not include much information other than the release date but it did show a caped figure holding a bardiche-like weapon. They can be seen standing against a horde of multi-legged enemies that roam in a desolated environment.
Near the end of the video, a massive creature is shown, supposedly commanding the aberrations. This particular monster has tentacles for feet, shining light on each of its palms, a pair of wings, and a bright glowing eye.
On top of all the new gameplay content, the Eldritch Realms expansion also brings six new music tracks as well as a gloomy and unsettling interface skin. All of these additions hype up what the developer seems to be planning for the future with Age of Wonders 4.
Triumph Studios also noted that Age of Wonders 4 players who already own the premium edition of the strategy game or its expansion pass will immediately get the upcoming DLC when it launches, according to GodIsAGeek.
