Players were also treated to some references to various classic games, such as PaRappa the Rapper, Journey, and many more. The latest reveal looks like a particularly joyful celebration of gaming on PlayStation.

After the presentation, more information regarding the game was revealed, including pre-orders, which means that it will not be a free game.

It will reportedly feature six galaxies that span more than 80 levels and will feature planets filled with forests, beaches, volcanoes, and massive hourglasses, according to IGN.

The new game will also apparently feature 15 new abilities that are designed to take full advantage of the DualSense controller. This seems to carry on the franchise's tradition of making full use of PlayStation's technology.

Astro Bot is Team Asobi's fifth project that features the iconic robot and its most recent project prior to the latest reveal that also featured the beloved robot was Astro's Playroom. This was a game that came pre-installed on every PlayStation 5 unit.

For years, there have been rumors that Team Asobi was looking to make a new game after it was discovered in 2021 that the studio created a job posting. This teased that it was working on its "most ambitious game yet."

As per the official description, Astro Bot is a brand new game where players will explore different galaxies in search of their scattered crew. The teaser trailer showed off some gameplay footage of the upcoming game, hyping players up even more, said Variety.

Taking Advantage of PlayStation's Technology

PlayStation said that the new abilities in the upcoming game will take advantage of the DualSense controller's various features, including its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. This means that players will be able to feel every little step along their journey with their adorable little robot.

On top of these, you will also be accompanied by Barkster, the Bulldog Booster that will let you air-dash and smash your way through enemies, metal, and glass. One item, called the Twin-Frog Gloves, will offer long-range punching as well as the ability to swing.

Meanwhile, the Giant Sponge will let players suck up water from the environment in order to grow bigger and cause massive destruction. The game will also have improved Astro controls that take the platforming game to new heights and give players a fresh experience.

The developer also said that they increased the number of enemies, adding more than 70 different types. These include massive bosses that players can find and fight at the end of each galaxy.

They also mentioned the deadly cobra queen Lady Venomara who is shown in the trailer and is waiting for players inside her golden lair. Each boss that players defeat will uncover a wonderful secret, according to the PlayStation Blog.
