The Rogue Prince of Persia finally releases its early access version on Steam and lets players try out this cute but deadly roguelite that marks the latest entry in the franchise.
This action-platformer game stars an entirely new Prince who has the power to resurrect himself every time he dies. The Rogue Prince of Persia challenges you to parkour and battle your way through continually reshuffling levels in an effort to fight off an invasion from the Huns.
The Rogue Prince of Persia Early Access
During the game's early access period, there will be more biomes and new content that will gradually be added as the developer gathers feedback from the community. Game director Lucie Dewagnier also talked about The Rogue Prince of Persia and how it took shape as well as what the future looks like.
When asked about how the levels in the game are generated, she said that the process was relatively complex. It took the team nearly the entirety of the development process to get it right and they are still continuously improving it, according to Ubisoft News.
Dewagnier said that it is based on premade "chunks," adding that there are several meters of level that are premade and the game's algorithm assembles them to make the entire level. However, this is not something done at random and follows what they call a structure that is defined by the level designer.

She also talked about the new version of the character, including his look, personality, and story. The game director noted that they had a lot of freedom while working on The Rogue Prince of Persia. Dewagnier noted that Ubisoft also helped them with certain design decisions for the game.
The game is filled with the Huns, who were reimagined as feral warriors wearing skull masks and wielding tribal magic. Your character, the Prince, is stuck in an endless time loop as he tries to save his people with support from his allies.
Roguelite Platformer's Various Features
Typical of other games in the franchise, the Prince is an acrobatic of sorts and when you hold the left trigger, it allows you to run along and up most walls. This particular mechanic negates the need for things such as air dashes and double jumps, said GodIsAGeek.
The art of linking together traversal is straightforward but is relatively difficult to master because of various traps and hazards in the environment. The dash lacks the I-frames or invincibility frames that are found in Dead Cells' dodge rolls giving you immunity from damage.
But when you press the dash button while you are close to an enemy, it will allow you to vault over them. You can then either attack them or do a flying kick that knocks them back. If you hit another enemy, then both foes will become dazed for a short period of time.
The Rogue Prince of Persia's early access was originally scheduled to be released on Steam on May 14, 2024, but had to be delayed. This was because of Supergiant Games' sudden release of Hades 2, according to HardcoreGamer.
