Developer Happy Broccoli Games just released its indie puzzle game Duck Detective: The Secret Salami on PC via Steam and on the Nintendo Switch.
The game lets players take control of Eugene McQuacklin, who is a duck and a detective who is known to be down on his luck, overdue on his rent, and has a bread problem.
After being hired by an unknown client, you are tasked with investigating a local bus depot to find out who is behind the mysterious shenanigans involving salami.
Duck Detective Out Now
Duck Detective doesn't fall short of silliness or personality and features fully voiced characters as well as a pitch-perfect smokey jazz soundtrack. The game also has enough charm to keep players engaged throughout its roughly two-hour gameplay experience.
The game's graphics are also beautiful to look at with two-dimensional characters moving through 3D environments. They can also be seen having entertaining waddling animations and excellent artwork.
You will have to unravel mysteries that involve Mad Lib-like puzzles based on what you can discern from the environment. Players will also have to chat with NPCs around the bus depot's office and interview everyone from the manager to customer service agents, and penguin janitor, according to Kotaku.
The game lets players visually inspect every single character for notable details to help them discern elements of their personality. This is also useful for asking them specific questions about evidence that you will come across as you work on cracking the mystery.

Duck Detective, while an adorable-looking game, can sometimes be a bit of a challenging experience for some people. While it is definitely a title that you can relax with, you will have to pay close attention more than you think.
Every single one of the Mad Lib-style puzzles requires players to talk to several NPCs before they can piece together everything that they have learned. While there are some alternate outcomes based on your decisions, cracking each part of the case needs guessing the right words in each puzzle's sentence.
A Stunning Indie Puzzle Game
In the game, players will have a notebook that features the answer to each mystery being spelled out with missing words. If you are able to collect the right words and place them in the correct spaces, you will be able to solve the case, said Inverse.
While the earlier puzzles simply require you to figure out the reason behind a character being down, later on, the challenge ramps up significantly. The game never rises to the level of something like Return of the Obra Dinn or The Case of the Golden Idol but still captures the same feelings.
Duck Detective also has excellent general writing and presentation and its characters are quirky but believable. The developer did an amazing job at balancing the light-hearted nature of their game while also taking it seriously.
The characters are seemingly cut out of paper and are reminiscent of Paper Mario's graphics style. Everything in Duck Detective looks great and is very memorable, which all contribute to its charm, according to NintendoWorldReport.
