Leikir Studio's Synergy Introduces a Beautiful Post-Apocalyptic City Builder

Leikir Studio's latest city-building game, Synergy, is bringing a beautiful post-apocalyptic environment that gives off cozy and soothing vibes.

Synergy had previously released a demo where some players were caught by surprise by how difficult it actually is despite its cozy atmosphere. With the game's early access on Steam already out now, the developer added more buildings, vegetation, exploration, and decorations.

It was surprising to see the major update to the research trees, which now have eight branches and around 60 different aspects for players to research. These include new buildings, ways to irrigate and grow plants, and benches and lights to make your city more stunning.

However, adding more stuff does not necessarily mean that the game becomes easier, and if anything, it actually makes it even more complicated. It forces players to multitask in order to make sure that everything is working properly and as intended.

In the early stages of Synergy, players will have a simple storage hut and basic necessities such as food, water, and a few building materials. Also, the few refugees that are under your control are exhausted from fleeing from their collapsed civilization, according to PCGamer.

After you successfully set up camp next to a pool of dirty water, you will need to act fast in order to extract and clean it. Players will also need to construct some form of shelter for themselves and their refugees to avoid dying from heat stroke.

Synergy features several weather conditions and instead of the usual four, the planet that the game is set on fluctuates between temperate and dry periods. During the former, more food grows and citizens are less likely to get sick while working under the sun.

This is probably the best time to harvest as many materials as possible and also build infrastructure as there is not much risk to doing so. But when the dry season comes, you will most likely not want to do anything for fear of various consequences.

A Ton of New Content and Features

The season changes every 40 days and the dry season affects everything that players do in the game. This could include water drying up, plants wilting, or others that will constantly keep you on your toes in order to keep your city prosperous, said GamesRadar.

Synergy also lets players send out some of their citizens on expeditions once they unlock an explorer's tent. You can view an illustrated map that shows where you can venture out and there is the promise of potentially clean water sources and many other discoveries.

In announcing the game's early access on Steam, publisher Goblinz and developer Leikir studio said that Synergy will have two story scenarios, 55 buildings, two different seasons, more than 90 exploration scenarios, 27 unique plants, more than 60 researches, and more than 30 unique resources.

They also said that during the game's early access on Valve's gaming platform, they plan to add new content and improve existing features. They said that player feedback will, more than ever, be needed to make it the best game it can possibly be, according to WorthPlaying.
