Activision Releases First Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Teasers, Key Art

Activision has released the first teasers for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as well as a key art that seems to be a throwback of the classic Black Ops 1 box art.

The first teaser for the latest game in the franchise was posted by CharlieIntel on X, formerly known as Twitter. It shows live-action footage that depicts Mount Rushmore being vandalized with pieces of cloth that read the phrase "The Truth Lies."

The video also comes as part of the studio's teaser website that features an interactive television that has only six channels available. This is seemingly a reference to the name of the upcoming game.

A second teaser has also made its way online that suggests fans will not have to wait much longer before the other four channels are revealed.

The latest trailer lasts about 20 seconds shorter than the first and shows what seems to be the same mysterious group putting up black and orange "The Truth Lies" posters," according to IGN.

Furthermore, fans who visit the new website can also hear ominous music playing in the background when the digital TV is turned off. The new teasers come as Microsoft reportedly will announce its intention to release the game straight into Game Pass during its June Xbox showcase.

For now, the company has declined to comment regarding the reports but they do align with recent comments from Xbox president Sarah Bond. She previously indicated that all Microsoft games, including the ones that were developed by the recently acquired Activision, will launch straight into Game Pass.

Activision is supposedly planning for a late October 2024 release for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The game's name came after teasers that were discovered in battle royale Warzone were acknowledged by developer Treyarch.

Microsoft is also rumored to be prepared to release the Call of Duty back catalog of video games into Game Pass ahead of the latest title's launch. There are no other details about the game but the TV-themed teaser promises to reveal more soon, said HypeBeast.

The Call of Duty Franchise

A video game analyst, Daniel Ahmad, said that launching the latest Call of Duty game straight into Game Pass is the right move. He argued that this is because Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is a multiplatform title that will be sold for maybe $70 outside of the subscription.

Microsoft reportedly paid more than $74.5 billion in order to acquire Activision Blizzard and the Call of Duty franchise. When the company made this deal, it became Microsoft's biggest acquisition in history.

Ever since the effort to buy Activision Blizzard was announced in January 2022, many fans have wondered if new or catalog Call of Duty games would be coming to Game Pass. While that has not happened yet and has not yet been confirmed, there is still a chance that it will become a reality.

The situation comes as the Call of Duty franchise is a sales juggernaut and is one of the largest franchises in the history of video games. Some of the titles in the series regularly rank among the best-selling games of the year, according to GameSpot.
