Continued Layoffs at Singularity 6

After the initial layoff of 49 developers on April 5, Singularity 6 has now reportedly laid off around 36 more employees, making up about 40% of its staff. This marks the third instance of layoffs for the studio, with a smaller wave occurring in September 2023.

Nicole Carpenter from Polygon broke the news, noting that many developers had already departed after the first round of layoffs, resulting in a smaller team being affected this time.

Challenges for Palia

Palia, marketed as a cozy MMO, entered Open Beta last year on platforms like Epic Games, Nintendo Switch, and recently, Steam. Despite its emphasis on creating a warm and welcoming environment, the game has faced difficulties in attracting a significant player base within the MMO community.

Additionally, the studio has faced criticism for not clearly labeling the game as an Open Beta, particularly during its recent release on Steam. Despite these challenges, Palia continues to receive updates, including new quests and features, and remains hopeful for its future success.
