Fields of Mistria: Become a Magical Girl in This Farming Sim Coming Out in Early Access in August

You can become a magical girl in Fields of Mistria, a farming simulator with '90s anime-inspired visuals that is coming out in early access on Steam in August this year.

The upcoming cozy life game calls itself a spiritual successor to the farm sims of the late '90s while also being inspired by anime of the same time. The developer of Fields of Mistria is NPC Studio, which also talked a little bit about the game's early access version.

The company said that it will have many of the bits that fans have come to expect as standard in a farming sim game. These are farming, crafting, mining, romance, and ranching. Additionally, Fields of Mistria will feature a system of unlockable magic spells and 50 sets of museum collections for you to work on.

However, there will be one key feature of Fields of Mistria that will not be available for players when the game comes out in early access later this year. NPC Studio said in an announcement post that while marriage candidates are available, you won't be able to get married yet, according to PCGamer.

The game uses a 10-heart relationship system which is something also seen in other games in the genre, such as Stardew Valley. NPC Studio also noted that players will be able to unlock scenes with all candidates at the two- and four-heart marks during the early access.

It was also revealed that there will be additional scenes and progression that will later be added in various updates as Fields of Mistria approaches its version 1.0 launch. For now, the release date of the game's early access is Aug. 5, 2024, and it will be available for $14.

The official reveal of the game showed off some of its townsfolk, many of whom are the available love interests for players to court. Additionally, there were also two in-game people that were revealed only as silhouettes.

Early Access Version Release

The early access version of the game will be available for roughly a year and will allow players to customize their characters and grow more than 50 different crops across four seasons. It will also feature the ability to raise and play with animals, blacksmithing, and cooking, said Siliconera.

Fields of Mistria also has a dungeon and mine area, the latter of which will only go to level 60 when the game launches. The Saturday Market will also have only half of the planned vendors and so far, nine skills will be available.

In Mistria, an idyllic village nestled between forest and sea, players are offered an overgrown but full-of-potential homestead in exchange for your help. You are tasked with restoring the town to its former glory after it was devastated by an earthquake causing strange magic to flow through the land.

The game will feature 10 normal and two special marriage candidates for a total of 12 potential life partners. On top of being able to raise animals, you can also breed rare color variants to make them look more unique, according to Gematsu.
