Multiversus Shows Off Gameplay of Mark Hamill's Joker in New Trailer

Multiversus just released a new trailer that showed off gameplay footage of the fighting game's latest roster addition, the Joker, who is voiced by Mark Hamill.

The iconic DC villain will become available for players to control on May 28, 2024, and is a Mage-class character who is equipped with a variety of wacky weapons. These include a weaponized pogo stick, spring-loaded boxing gloves, a rocket launcher, and many more.

The game will become available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It will also feature full cross-play and cross-progression support to let you freely choose which platform to choose.

Multiversus is a free-to-play platform fighting game that has an ever-growing cast of iconic characters from various franchises, including Bugs Bunny, Shaggy from Scooby Doo, and others. It also features various online modes, in-game events, ongoing content-filled seasons, and others, according to IGN.

The Joker is a ranged fighter who relies on his arsenal of weapons to deal damage to his enemies. On top of the character's gameplay footage, the latest trailer also shows off some alternate looks for the Joker, including Dark Prince Charming and the Batman Who Laughs.

Hamill voicing the character in the fighting game comes after he said during an interview that he was not planning on voicing the character if Conroy was not involved. The actor said, "They would call and say, 'They want you to do the Joker,' and my only question was, 'Is Kevin Batman?'"

The actor's return to voicing the Joker sees him reuniting with the late Kevin Conroy, who voiced the Batman character in Multiversus. The game's release comes as it has been offline for close to a year as the developer, Player First, worked to retool it and create new content.

Other characters that are currently part of the game's roster include Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Black Adam, Velma, Tasmanian Devil, Marvin the Martian, and many more from other franchises.

Teasing the Powerpuff Girls

The latest trailer not only showed off the Joker's gameplay but also teased the next set of characters that could potentially be joining Multiversus' roster, the Powerpuff Girls. The adorable crime-fighting superheroes were teased within the first few seconds, said Polygon.

The Powerpuff Girls were shown briefly in the top right corner of the screen shown in the Joker's latest gameplay trailer. These girls were the stars of the highly popular '90s cartoon. Since the show's debut, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup have become beloved characters and made various appearances in other media.

These include numerous games, books, and even a rebooted animated TV show and they seem to be perfect for Warner Bros.' massive IP collection that is Multiversus. There were unofficial references to the Powerpuff Girls in datamined files and content.

This made it seem very likely that the three superheroes' showing up in the latest Joker gameplay trailer was not an accident but a calculated move to hype up the game among its fans, according to Kotaku.
