Manor Lords First Major Update Fixes a Lot of Commonly Reported Issues

Manor Lords, Hooded Horse's city-building game that became the most wishlisted title on Steam, has released its first major patch that fixes a lot of the most commonly reported issues that players have encountered.

Slavic Magic released an experimental patch for the game that comes with a variety of fixes, new game mechanics, and upgrades. One of the things that the update addresses is the "None" people spawning in large numbers and refusing to do any work that you order them to.

It also fixes clogged Training Posts, weak archer damage, ineffective sawpits, and inefficient marketplace supply, among others. There were also other complaints that are being worked on in the patch, such as the game being stuck at the summary screen after a victory or game over.

There were also some problems with optimizations in large cities, problems with crops erasing in the winter, too harsh oversupply and undersupply systems, people and livestock remaining homeless despite being given enough living space, and others that have been addressed, according to VG247.

In terms of the new game mechanics that have been added, these include that whenever a person dies, there is a 30-day mourning period that blocks growth. Players can preview this in the Building Panel of the Burgage Plot or by pressing the Tab key on their keyboards.

Additionally, the latest update reimplements the "Annual Royal Tax" or "King's Tax" mechanic that is collected from the Treasury once per year and will then go to the King. The amount is calculated per resident and should now be able to slightly punish bad workplace optimization.

This means that it would be a little bit more difficult for players to hoard huge amounts of cash, whatever the reason. The experimental patch also adds new upgraded retinue armor variations and reworked the Large Granary building to allow the building's doors to animate properly.

Experimental Changes

Manor Lords developer Slavic Magic posted on Steam that the new changes are still in public testing, which means that they are not yet officially released. The company also noted that the patch could include some things that are not perfect, including balance changes, said IGN.

Slavic Magic also said that the new strings are not yet localized, noting that stability has not yet been thoroughly tested in the game.

Players who are willing to be part of the public testing of the new changes can go to their Steam libraries, right-click on Manor Lords, select properties, move to the betas tab using the password veryNiceBasket, and choose "pre-release."

One of the biggest changes that players will see in the experimental patch is the introduction of global/local trading. This particular feature will let you trade beyond your kingdom's borders and within the territories of those that you have conquered.

This works by having two trading posts in both regions and Greg Styczen, aka Slavic Magic, said that employed traders will prioritize traveling to the region with the best prices to commence trade. This would include regions that are owned by other lords, according to PCGamer.
