Ghost of Tsushima is Restricted After Helldivers 2 in Some Countries Due to PSN Requirement

Following the recent controversy surrounding the removal of Helldivers 2 from Steam in 177 countries due to PlayStation Network (PSN) account-linking requirements, another hit game, Ghost of Tsushima, has found itself facing similar restrictions in certain regions.

Helldivers 2 Fallout Continues

Initially, the removal of Helldivers 2 from Steam sparked widespread disappointment among fans, prompting Sony to backtrack on its decision to require account-linking with PSN. However, today's updates bring further disappointment for gamers.

Helldivers 2 has expanded its list of restricted countries to include the Baltics, as indicated on its SteamDB page. But more notably, Ghost of Tsushima has also been affected, facing restrictions in countries where PSN is unavailable, mirroring the limitations imposed on Helldivers 2.

Impact on Players and Communities

The restriction of both games, including in countries such as Etstonia, Lithuania, and Latvia, has stirred concern among the gaming community. These developments come shortly after Sucker Punch, the developer of Ghost of Tsushima, clarified the PSN account-linking requirements for the game's upcoming PC release, slated for May 16.

Despite Sony's reversal of the contentious account-linking mandate for Helldivers 2, the game remains inaccessible in countries without PSN availability. While the backlash against the initial decision has somewhat subsided on Helldivers 2's Steam review page, the addition of more countries to the restricted list has reignited apprehension among fans.

With the PC release of Ghost of Tsushima imminent, the confirmation of similar restrictions has raised concerns about accessibility in regions without PSN support.
