The developer's website was changed to include GTA 6 in its database alongside placeholder spots for four screenshots, cover art, and the release date for the game.

Shortly after the changes were seen, the website was once again updated to remove the details, which suggests that they made their way online a bit earlier than they were supposed to.

In a post on social media, @GTAVI_Countdown noted that the code with placeholders can still be accessed on the Rockstar Games website. He also revealed that there were mentions of digital purchases (pre-orders).

The social media user said that Rockstar Games was probably preparing the website and did not intend to make the page public just yet. He said that he expects there will a an announcement made before Take-Two's conference call on May 16, 2024, according to IGN.

It has already been five months since the developer of GTA 6 officially revealed the first trailer for the highly anticipated game. There is also the fact that Rockstar Games recently purged most of its Instagram page, which is a strategy that it used before when it revealed its first GTA 6 trailer.

Also, Reddit user Ok_Owl_9137 noticed that the website seems to be keeping only 14 posts live at any time. With this, many fans are speculating that the number itself could point to a May 14, 2024, reveal.

Highly Anticipated Sequel

There are also new rumors that suggest the highly anticipated game will not be released in early 2025 despite previous sources suggesting such a timeline.

It was suggested that this is because the information was out-of-date and a result of Rockstar Games' tightening security and communication within itself, said Kotaku.

Now, sources suggest that the target release schedule for GTA 6 is in Fall 2025 and while many are confident it will stick, it could still be delayed further. The game is the sequel to 2013's GTA V, which is still increasingly popular in this day and age among players.

One of the most intriguing details that have been released about GTA 6 is that it will feature dual playable protagonists, which makes it the first to do so in the franchise. One of these characters is Lucia, who is the first female lead character in the series' history, and the male character is rumored to be named Jason.

The developer also confirmed that the game will feature a return to Vice City, which is the fictional Miami-inspired setting that was last seen in GTA Vice City in 2002. However, the game this time will feature the state of Leonida at its core, according to LiveMint.
