Albion Online Finally Opens European/MENA Servers After Nearly a Decade From Launch

Albion Online, a massively multiplayer RPG that is completely free-to-play, has finally launched its European/MENA servers and gone global after nearly a decade from its original launch.

The decision to open up the European and MENA servers was designed to improve pink and stability for players in those regions. The fresh-start server also features its own schedules for prime time and events.

This should make it much easier for players in those particular regions to connect to the game itself. Additionally, the new servers are not region-locked, which means that anyone who wants to play on them can do so.

However, it is important to note that playing on the new European/MENA servers from the outside has its fair share of troubles. These include having to adjust to the server schedule, potential ping problems, and other temporary changes that were made just for the launch of the servers, according to MMORPG.

Similarly to the time when Sandbox Interactive, the developer of Albion Online, opened up the game's Asian server, there are a few conditions in place in the early stages of the European/MENA servers being open.

Some of the zones in the game will initially be inaccessible in order to reduce the world size until more players start or move to the new servers and the team makes sure they have good enough player density for PvP systems.

The developers also seeded a few items on the marketplace, including a few Crystal Shards, which are somewhat expensive. The team had also taken some of the crafting plots and others to let things roll out as they observe the state of the servers.

Albion Online came out in 2017 and has since racked up a loyal player base and has more than 70,000 reviews on Steam which has resulted in a "mostly positive" rating.

The addition of the new servers could help players in Europe have better pink, lower latency, and experience in-game events that were designed with their own time zones in mind, said PCGamesN.

Going Global After Nearly a Decade

What makes the game popular and unique among other MMORPGs is that it features a "classless" system. This is based on the saying "you are what you wear" and players can change skills by switching up the equipment that they have.

Furthermore, Albion Online has a player-driven economy as items that are crafted by players are the main supply of the marketplace. If you don't want to spend money on gear, you can craft everything yourself, though that makes for an adventure on its own.

To mark the momentous occasion of opening up the European/MENA servers, Dragony has written a brand-new track, "The Untold Story." The song perfectly captures the spirit of adventure and the thrill of writing your own story.

Sandbox Interactive is also running a special Twitch Drop campaign to celebrate the launch of the new servers. Players have until 11:00 UTC on May 8, 2024, to watch Albion Online streams. Through these, they can earn the adorable Brown Alpaca mount, according to Albion Online News.
