Remnant 2 The Forgotten Kingdom DLC Causes Players Count To Double on Steam

Remnant 2, which is considered one of the best co-op games of the past year, has more than doubled its player count thanks to its The Forgotten Kingdom DLC.

The game is a souls-like-infused third-person shooter that was built on the foundations of a severely underrated first game. It gives players memorable encounters and a hoard of loot to obtain.

The Forgotten Kingdom is the second of a planned three-stage initial run and sets its focus on the forest world of Yaesha. Additionally, players who are eager to step into the fray can get the DLC now for much cheaper due to a sale on Steam.

The new DLC adds more than just story content and a plethora of weapons, items, and rings. The Forgotten Kingdom also gives players the chance to unlock the ability to become an Invoker, which is the latest addition to the game's ever-growing list of archetypes.

The Invoker wields elemental powers and its signature feature is that players get double skill charges for both it and their second equipped archetype. This comes alongside reduced skill cooldowns that make the archetype an excellent option to pair with the Ritualist, according to PCGamesN.

Similar to the previous The Awakened King DLC, The Forgotten Kingdom features some amazing-level design. It leans into more sprawling and intricate maps that have a variety of paths for players to explore and secrets to discover.

There are also some new interesting enemy interactions to figure out, including flowers that seem to make your opponents more vulnerable when struck. Only a few hours after the launch of The Forgotten Kingdom DLC, Remnant 2's player count on Steam peaked at 10,752, which was more than double the highest seen in the past month.

The Forgotten Kingdom DLC also brought a new soundtrack, which seems to have taken inspiration from the original Remnant game. It mixes the hum of classical instruments with the energy of electrical ones.

One of the Best Games of 2023

However, one thing that some players have criticized is Remnant 2's story and general narrative design, while the premise itself is intriguing, where a post-apocalyptic earth is ravaged by otherworldly monsters, the narrative is nothing spectacular, said Sportskeeda.

Despite The Forgotten Kingdom DLC being similar in this regard, it does make for a much more intriguing setting. The new region's story focuses on a lost tribe in Yaesha, led by a stone spirit, Lydusa. She tasks you with investigating the land and finding the source of her corruption.

When it was released in 2023, Remnant 2 became a massive hit and topped out at 110,000 players on Steam. Since its launch, the game has sold more than two million copies and can be considered a major success.

The game is like Dark Souls with guns and even the creative director of Remnant 2's developer, Gunfire Games, agrees. Another feature of the title is that the areas are procedurally generated, which means that no two playthroughs will be the same, keeping players on their toes when they start a new game, according to WindowsCentral.
