Manor Lords Developer Promises Frequent Discounts for Promising New City Builder

Manor Lords, the recently released city builder following the milestone of becoming the most wish-listed title on Steam, will run frequent discounts, the developer says.

Following its release, Manor Lords has already garnered a "very positive" rating on Steam with a 91% score from 7,000 reviews on its first day. The CEO of Hooded Horse, Tim Bender, expressed his gratitude for the players' overwhelming support.

He also told people who were planning on buying the game that they have no need to rush into the early access version if it doesn't feel right. The game was described as a beautiful and ambitious city builder with expansive gameplay and mechanics.

However, some players have shared concerns that the early access version "feels more like an extended demo." This is because some of the bigger features have not yet become available for players to enjoy.

Bender appears to share some recommendations that tell other players to wait to get the game until more features have been launched. On top of this, The Hooded Horse CEO wrote a "personal note of thanks" to the Manor Lords community, according to PCGamesN.

He thanks players for being incredibly supportive of the new game, noting that Manor Lords was created by a solo developer. Bender added that early access is not for everyone, claiming that as time goes by, Manor Lords will just keep getting better with future updates.

Manor Lords currently has a 25% off introductory offer until Friday, May 10, 2024, and the early access version is planned to last about a year. Bender also assured players that they will run 25% discounts often to give people a lot of opportunities to get the title later on.

Players on Game Pass who want to try out Manor Lords can also dive into the city builder's world if they wish. But for those who have neither access to the game on the Microsoft service or are not fully willing to buy it on Steam, regular sales are said to keep coming over time.

Improving the Game Over Time

Slavic Magic's new game surprised many as most early access titles often launch in an unoptimized state. Manor Lords, on the other hand, is relatively polished despite being a bit light on content, said GameRant.

The solo developer, Greg Styczen, also said that he plans to keep the medieval city-building game in early access for a while. However, the timeline that has been given could still change depending on player feedback and how it influences the game's development.

Slavic Magic also urged players to leave more reviews about Manor Lords in an attempt to discover any bugs that exist in the game. He said that many players do not leave reviews and those who do usually have a negative experience with the game.

Styczen noted that players who have had a great or good time with a game usually do not leave a review. He wants players to comment on the new title, whether they be positive, negative, or neutral, noting that Manor Lords is in early access for a reason, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.
