Minecraft Surprisingly Adds New Creatures Months Before Scheduled Update They're Part Of

Minecraft just surprised players by adding new creatures to the game that were supposedly planned to be rolled out with the update that is coming later this year.

These mobs include armadillos and eight new types of wolf that were previously announced as part of the 1.21 update. The game's new armadillos will now spawn in the savannah and badlands biomes as they were said to inhabit.

Minecraft has surprisingly added new mobs into the game, armadillos and wolf variants, that were supposedly going to be part of the update coming later this year.

The patch notes for 1.20.8 also revealed that players can lure armadillos towards themselves using spider eyes. Players will also be able to put leashes on the mobs and they are capable of rolling up into a protective ball whenever they sense danger.

The list of threats includes players sprinting nearby, undead enemies, or players riding by on their mounts. More importantly, players will not have to kill the armadillos in order to get their scaley "scute" skins. These are dropped periodically or players can brush them to acquire the items, according to PCGamer.

The armadillos are also expectedly accompanied by the new wolf types as the scute is used to craft into wolf armor. Players' canine pals no longer need to dive into the mines without any sort of protection.

The new wolf variants are pale, wood, ashen, black, chestnut, rusty, spotted, striped, and snowy. They will all spawn in different biomes but will mostly be cosmetic variations rather than functional changes.

The game's developer, Mojang, noted that the different types of wolves typically spawn in different size packs. All of the wolves that players have tamed will now have 20 hearts, which is twice their previous health points. Also, feeding them will recover twice as many hearts as they used to, which is a very nice buff in battle.

An update post said that armadillos are shy critters that prefer the heat of the savannah and badlands and will roll into a ball if players approach it too quickly or too loudly. The detailed patch notes for the 1.20.8 update also said that spiders and cave spiders will run away from armadillos, said Rock Paper Shotgun.

Early Release of Armadillos and Wolf Variants

The update adds to Minecraft's healthy-looking ecology after the addition of a crab to mangrove swamps, the fluffy Breeze mob to underground chambers, and a quasi-extinct creature known as "the Sniffer." The latter's preserved eggs can be found in underwater ruins.

On top of the new creatures and wolf armor, the 1.20.8 update also adds new experimental features, mace, heavy core, and more. It also implements many fixes and improvements, including technical updates.

Players are also able to avail of the Marketplace Pass subscription, which can be accessed on all devices with Minecraft Bedrock Edition. The early addition of armadillos and wolf variants makes players eager to see what else Mojang will release in the next major update and DLC.

Many fans of the franchise are hoping to see some of the spin-offs becoming available on mobile natively in the future. A lot of players were pleasantly surprised with what Mojang brought with the 1.20.8 update, according to Touch Arcade.
