There are rumors about some early details regarding the upcoming Assassin's Creed Hexe that suggest the latest entry in the franchise could include magic powers, possession, and a Fear System.
The series' Vice President and Executive Producer, Marc-Alexis Cote, suggests that the new game will be different from past titles and be developed by Ui=bisoft Montreal. The official tease of the title showed that Assassin's Creed Hexe will heavily lean into witchcraft.
Assassin's Creed Hexe
The game is rumored to be set in Central Europe during the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire. Early details about the game reveal that it is still in a relatively early stage of the development process and is expected to be released in 2026 on the Infinity platform.
The new game in the franchise is said to be a more linear experience in comparison with the other titles in the series. It is said to have some elements of open-world exploration similar to other earlier Assassin's Creed games, according to Insider Gaming.
Assassin's Creed Hexe is poised to have a single female protagonist, who is currently known by the name Else and is equipped with supernatural abilities. Footage that did not go public showed off one of these abilities, according to Insider Gaming.
The footage showed Elsa seemingly being chased by 16th-century German soldiers before she used a spell to possess a nearby cat. The player then takes control of the feline in order to distract the soldiers by knocking over a glass bottle that smashes on the ground and diverts their attention.
The gameplay footage that was shared with Insider Gaming was said to have depicted a dark and gloomy setting along the streets of a city. There were also talks about the addition of a Fear System that was inspired by the Assassin's Creed Syndicate "Jack the Ripper" DLC.

It was unknown how the new system would be implemented inside the game but the 16th-century Witch Trials saw up to 80,000 suspected witches being executed between 1500 and 1660. This means that some form of a Fear System makes sense in the setting inside Assassin's Creed Hexe.
The rumors regarding Assassin's Creed Hexe come as Ubisoft has not yet revealed any release window for the game, said WCCFTech.
Assassin's Creed Red
The new game in development also comes as another title in the franchise is set to release in March next year, Assassin's Creed Red. The game is set in Feudal era Japan and was initially announced alongside other games in the franchise, Assassin's Creed Hexe and Assassin's Creed Infinity.
The latest news about the title came in February 2024 suggesting that it has an expected release window of March 2025. Assassin's Creed Red was described as Ubisoft's "next premium flagship title."
It then teased that the game would be "the future of our open-world RPG games on Assassin's Creed." During 2022's Ubisoft Forward showcase, a 30-second reveal trailer was shown about Assassin's Creed Red. It confirmed the return of the Animus and the first look at the new assassin, according to GamesRadar.
