When inFamous: Second Son first released late last month, there were a few mixed opinions on the gameplay, story, and whatnot, but one thing that the critics agreed on was how damn good it looked. Wrote Brian Fleming, Co-Founder of Second Son developer Sucker Punch, "We were totally amazed at the quality of the screenshots you all shared. Amazed." So as of today, so shutterbug players can keep spreading their Seattle landscapes, Second Son is getting a photo mode alongside a host of other additions, courtesy of a new update, which Fleming detailed n a recent PlayStation Blog post:
"First - addressing one of the top two requests we've gotten - you'll be able to disable the HUD, and once you've finished the game you'll be able to adjust the time of day as you like."
"We also promised, and have included, an option to cap the game frame rate at 30 FPS if you prefer playing this way. To set expectations for you all: this is a frame rate cap - not a lock. It won't eliminate the rare instance of a dropped frame during gameplay."
Other changes include localization text, crash fixes, the game pausing if the controller runs out of batteries, and letting players know if they're qualified for the "Unstoppable" trophy when opting in while playing on expert difficulty. Fleming also described how the photo mode works.
"With this patch, you can enable photo mode within the options. Once you do that, clicking L3 will pause the game, and allow you to use a suite of our internal tools (like setting depth of field) to take even more amazing shots." There's also a tutorial video below just in case that was a little too difficult.
inFamous: Second Son is out now exclusively for PlayStation4. The game recently beat out Titanfall alongside Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes in UK sales.
