Hades 2, the sequel to the beloved roguelite by Supergiant Games, is holding a technical test, and instructions on how to join were posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The goal of Supergiant Games with the upcoming technical test is to make sure that the early access release of the game has a "smooth play experience from the start." The technical test will have much less content than the early access version.
Hades 2 Technical Test
It will include the first major area of the game and early-game characters and will only be available to a "relatively small subset" of players who sign up to play the technical test.
On its website, Supergiant Games said that those who played the original should imagine a version where they could not get past Tartarus even if they defeated its guardian.
The company also noted that players who complete the area in the technical test a certain number of times will see a "gentle suggestion" to stop playing. Players who want to join the technical test will have to go to the Hades 2 Steam page, according to IGN.
After going to the Steam page, they should then click the button marked "Request Access" and if they are invited to participate, they will get an email from Steam. This will include instructions on how to download the technical test version of the game.

Supergiant Games said that they expect to only start with a small player population and steadily grow it over time. This means that even if players do not get an invitation, they may still be chosen to join the technical test later down the road.
The company said that their plan is to invite some players, fix any issues that they run into, invite some more players, and continue with that cycle.
They added that when they are confident that things are already stable, they will wind down the technical test and launch Hades 2 in early access on Steam and shortly after, in the Epic Games Store.
Sequel to the Highly Successful Roguelite
The technical test for Hades 2 also does not have a set time that it will run for and the company said that the current estimate is longer than a week but shorter than a month. Despite the limitations, players and fans of the franchise are excited to get their hands on an early version of the game, said PCGamer.
The upcoming game is expected to follow up on Hades, which holds an "overwhelmingly positive" rating on Steam with nearly 230,000 user reviews. Fans have been waiting for a long time to get their hands on more of the series.
Hades 2 is set after the events of its predecessor, where crown prince Zagreus was successful in reuniting his parents and meeting all of his Olympian extended family. The sequel will have him pass the torch to Melinoe, a chthonic nymph who is also his sister, based on mythology.
The trailer for the game last year gave fans a tantalizing taste of what the Princess of Hell will be up to in the new game. It seems that Melinoe will go on a rescue mission that also doubles as an assassination, according to GamesRadar.
