Dragon's Dogma 2 Introduces 30fps Cap, Fresh Gameplay Feature

Capcom has rolled out the first post-launch patch for Dragon's Dogma 2, introducing a 30 frames-per-second (fps) cap for console players. The move aims to address concerns raised by players experiencing noticeable slowdowns, particularly in densely populated areas within the game.

Console Optimization and Feature Enhancements

Capcom's decision to implement the 30fps cap comes as part of ongoing efforts to optimize the game's performance. With promises of further improvements in subsequent patches, players opting for the capped framerate should anticipate smoother gameplay experiences, especially during intense combat sequences.

Presently, the fps adjustment is exclusively accessible on PlayStation 5, with plans for its extension to Xbox Series X/S in the near future. Additionally, the patch grants PlayStation users the ability to toggle Real-Time Ray Tracing (RTX) and motion blur settings, offering further customization options to enhance gameplay stability.

Multifaceted Patch Deployment

The patch extends beyond console platforms, with PC users also benefiting from bug fixes and quality-of-life updates. Notable enhancements include an expedited acquisition process for in-game dwellings and simplified new save file creation procedures, eliminating previously required workarounds.

Addressing Community Discontent

Since its release, Dragon's Dogma 2 has faced significant criticism for its subpar performance, leading some players to contemplate drastic measures such as NPC elimination to mitigate framerate issues. This dissatisfaction underscores the disparity between player expectations and the game's actual performance, especially after years of anticipation for a sequel.

Moreover, the game's inclusion of microtransactions at launch sparked widespread discontent among players. Although Capcom attempted to assuage concerns by affirming that purchasable items could be obtained through in-game means, skepticism persisted regarding the appropriateness of microtransactions within the game's framework.
