Apex Legends Devs Respond Positively to Calls for Ranked Duos

A Respawn Entertainment developer shared an update on the possibility of having a Ranked Duos mode in Apex Legends. The news isn't what some fans were hoping for, as the developer, known as RSPN_Laker, mentioned that there are no current plans for it. This comes after players were wishing for a more competitive version of the regular Duos mode.

Duos: A Familiar Feature in Apex Legends

Since its introduction as a permanent mode in April 2020, Duos has become a staple of Apex Legends' battle royale experience. The mode, allowing players to form two-player squads, has found favor among gamers for various reasons. Its smaller team size simplifies the process of finding premade groups, and the increased potential for 1v1 engagements makes it appealing for solo-queue players.

Players Express Disappointment Despite Developer's Response

During the Reddit AMA, a user raised the question of a Ranked Duos playlist, prompting the disappointing response from RSPN_Laker. The developer acknowledged the community's desire for such a mode but clarified that a dedicated Ranked Duos feature is not currently in the development pipeline. However, the door is not entirely closed, as the developer stated they "hear the feedback and request."

Maybe in the Future?

Even though some fans might feel let down, it's not the same situation as before when the solo mode was introduced and later removed. The developers back then said solo play didn't fit the game's teamwork vibe. For Ranked Duos, it might be because they want to keep the focus on the Trios format or worry it could split players between two modes.

While Ranked Duos may not be in the immediate plans, the evolving landscape of the game suggests that the Apex Legends community can anticipate more changes and additions in the coming weeks.
