Now that Last Epoch is finally out of Early Access, you are probably thinking of playing the game soon. If so, read our guide to learn how to choose the right class for you!
Basics
There are five base classes in Last Epoch, namely the Sentinel, Rogue, Mage, Primalist, and Acolyte. Once you have completed a portion of the main campaign and have invested at least 20 skill points, you will unlock three Masteries that you can choose from - each with its own unique abilities.

Sentinel
If you are a complete beginner and would like to have a pretty solid character that can take damage without any problem, then the Sentinel is for you. Its masteries include the Paladin, Void Knight, and Forge Guard.
Among the three, the Forge Guard seems to be the most balanced. That is because this Mastery has the ability to summon sentient armors, weapons, and shields that follow you wherever you go, attacking enemies that come too close for comfort.
Of course, the Paladin is a great choice as well. With the ability to heal wounds, you can sustain yourself long enough before needing to go back to town.
Rogue
The Rogue is ideal if you want a speedy character that can dispatch enemies quickly with dagger attacks or attack them from a distance using a bow and arrow.
The Falconer, which is one of the Rogue's Masteries, allows you to summon an invincible Falcon pet that can aid you in eliminating enemies with ease. There are also the Bladedancer and Marksman Masteries if you want the typical dagger and bow archetypes.
Mage
The Mage is capable of harnessing the power of arcane and elemental magics. You can lean heavier into this archetype by choosing the Sorcerer. If you want a hybrid, where you do not solely rely on casting magic from afar, then you might be interested in choosing the Spellblade.
Additionally, the Runemaster provides a slightly different, more methodical playstyle. Expect favorable outcomes when you cast spells in a specific order.
Primalist
Fighting alone can be challenging in Last Epoch. Fortunately, you can take the Primalist class so that you won't go out there by yourself.
With the Beastmaster, you can summon pets to fight alongside you. Alternatively, you can transform into a formidable beast by taking the Druid Mastery.
If none of the previous Masteries caught your attention, then maybe the Shaman will. With this Mastery, you can summon totems that cast devastating spells automatically.
Acolyte
If the Mage Class utilizes arcane magic to eliminate foes, the Acolyte casts dark magic to do the same thing. Summon an undead army with the Necromancer. If that is not your thing, you can cause the ground to open up and deal damage to enemies with the spells that are available to the Warlock.
The Lich is a unique Mastery that can only be accessed by the Acolyte. This one allows you to transform into a giant reaper that can cull monsters effectively.
Last Epoch is currently on sale at just $34.99 on Steam. Are you going to purchase your own copy soon? If so, which class are you going to pick?
