Myth of Empires Returns to Steam On This Date After Source Code Theft Controversy

After a source code theft controversy led to its removal from Steam, Myth of Empires is making a comeback on February 21. The multiplayer war sandbox game faced accusations from Studio Wildcard, the developers of Ark: Survival Evolved, which resulted in legal battles and a prolonged absence.

The Controversy

Originally debuting on Steam in 2021, Myth of Empires got entangled in a legal dispute, accused of stealing Ark's source code. Angela Game, the studio behind Myth of Empires, denied the allegations, and after a settlement in October 2023, the game is now set for a grand return.

What to Expect

With the disputes resolved, Myth of Empires is gearing up for its return to Steam, just a month away from its scheduled launch. Players curious to experience the game can participate in the ongoing closed technical test, featuring 18 servers distributed across North America, Europe, and Asia. The playtest introduces a new region, DongZhou, characterized by islets, volcanoes, seas, and ships, accompanied by a thrilling new boss fight.

To take part in the Myth of Empires playtest, head over to the Steam page and click the "request access" button. While immediate access isn't guaranteed, developers assure that all sign-ups will eventually receive invitations, as they aim to stress-test the servers in preparation for the full launch.
