Developer 343 Industries is shaking things up in Halo Infinite this coming January 30. The company will no longer add new seasons to the first-person shooter. Instead, it is leaning towards shorter Operations moving forward.
Operations Replacing Seasons
First introduced as part of Season 5, Operations have a lot of similarities to Seasons, except with one major difference: players can get content for free for a limited time. Typically, Operations last for a few weeks, giving players more than enough time to get what they have to offer. But, what about those who were not able to play during that period?
Well, according to Halo Infinite Community Manager Brian Jarrard, each Operation that has concluded will be available in the store for players to purchase. So, while it seems that the company is employing FOMO to keep players engaged, 343 Industries is offering the community a chance to get the rewards at their own pace, provided that they are willing to spend some money to get the previous Operations.
Now that the company is doing away with Seasons, when will Operations replace them? That will happen via a free update that is set to launch on January 30. Included in this update is a free "Mark IV" armor core, which is something that Spartans wore during the Halo Wars. Besides that, the update is going to bring three new helmets inspired by the Halo TV series.
Players who want to let their creative minds run wild will be happy to know that new Forge options are also going to be available by the end of the month. These options include objects and buildings from the Covenant.

Community Reactions
So, what does the Halo Infinite player base have to say about the news? The reactions are pretty mixed, with some expressing concerns that players are no longer able to get free Credits from the Operations Pass.
Redditor PurifiedVenom said that the company leaning towards Operations rather than Seasons moving forward is a step down from what was supposed to be a good year for Halo Infinite. "I'm not saying support is going to completely dry up in the next 6 months or anything but this does feel like the beginning of the end," they added.
Another Redditor has a different take in that they are even willing to spend money on the "Spirit of Fire" pass just to get a new cosmetic for assault rifles.
What do you think? Are you in favor of free Operations replacing Seasons entirely in Halo Infinite? Or, would you rather have 343 Industries continue with Seasons? Let us know in the comments!
