Bethesda released a series of tweets that showcased what players can expect in Starfield's "biggest update yet." Some of the highlights include major graphical improvements and a plethora of bug fixes, especially for certain quests.

Improved Graphics

One of the things that Bethesda has promised Starfield players is that the game will have vastly improved graphics in the form of enhanced textures, better lighting and shadows, and additional widescreen support. Players who are rocking ultrawide monitors to enjoy Starfield will surely be delighted with this news!

The company is also going to implement changes and fixes that address issues with planets and asteroids. For instance, the bug that caused asteroids to follow ships for no reason will be fixed in the upcoming update.

Plethora of Bug Fixes

The update is going to address a number of issues that plagued the game as well. The Eye of the Storm bug, which was famous for preventing players from progressing further into the game because they could get stuck during the data transfer process, is one of the things that will be resolved in the patch.

Bethesda also confirms that the "Power from Beyond" quest is fixed. For those who do not know, there is an issue with the quest where the scanner would point players to a place where no temple can be found.

The quest, Operation Starseed, has an issue where the doors in the Crucible are inaccessible, rendering players unable to complete a certain objective. While this bug will not be fixed in the upcoming patch, the company did confirm in a follow-up tweet that it is going to address the problem in a future update.

While it is great that the company is improving various aspects of the game, it seems that this move is too little, too late. One user on X/Twitter said that this is basically Bethesda admitting that the game was pushed out far too early because these changes should have been there from the beginning.

Release Date

So, when will this massive update be released? According to the company, players can test the changes and improvements on Steam Beta this Wednesday, January 17. If all goes well, the rest of the community can expect the patch to drop a couple of weeks later for all supported platforms.

Starfield is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
