Bringing Back Galaxies: Return to the Stars
The decision to resurrect Galaxies stems from the community's persistent fondness for older sets. Christina "xtna" Jiang, the product manager behind the revival, underscores the community's desire to revisit past favorites, making it an ideal starting point for this revival. Galaxies: Return to the Stars retains its original charm while receiving a fresh update, appealing to both veteran and new players alike.
The revival reintroduces beloved champions and traits, evoking nostalgia for veteran players. These elements, alongside unique traits like Mechs and Cybernetics, form the core essence that players have been longing for.
Modernizing Our Future Themed Set
While honoring the original, Riot Games is infusing modern TFT elements into Galaxies: Return to the Stars. This infusion includes transforming Galaxies into Portals, introducing Augments, and updating systems and items to align with the game's current mechanics.
The introduction of Portals, reminiscent of classic Galaxies, offers new variations like Treasure Trove and The Neekoverse, delivering diverse experiences with each game. Augments, a staple feature in recent sets, make a comeback, ensuring depth and variability in gameplay decisions.
Moreover, system changes, updated items, and quality-of-life improvements aim to ease players, old and new, into the revived set. A significant change in champion pool sizes allows for a more flexible and unrestricted gameplay experience, encouraging players to explore their favorite compositions without constraints.
The upcoming Lunar Legacy event, "Return to the Stars," will run on Jan 24 to Mar. 19. A preview of the event will be available on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) starting Jan. 11.
