The Finals has certainly ended 2023 with a bang as it enjoyed massive success since the day it launched. However, players have realized that they have to spend numerous hours to complete the game's first-ever Battle Pass, prompting others to voice their frustrations out on Reddit.
Not Cool
Disgruntled players went to the popular platform Reddit to vent out. Redditor CBTNotTheGameKind did not mince words and said that the very first battle pass for The Finals is not sustainable, citing that developer Embark Studio cannot expect players to sink countless hours into a single game. "I really hope the devs fix this in the next season because I can't see myself buying the pass again if it stays how it is," they added.
Redditor JMC_Direwolf said that The Finals community must band together to force Embark to create a battle pass that is similar to Halo Infinite's. For context, 343 Industries does not bank on FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and gives players the ability to complete the Halo Infinite battle pass at their convenience. They can cycle through each battle pass they have purchased and gain XP for that one. When it is completed, they can go to the next and do the same thing. This is the antithesis to The Finals battle pass in that the community only has 90 days to finish everything.
Another Redditor opined that battle passes, per se, are great as they keep players engaged. However, they become a problem when players are forced to devote their time and attention into just one title. They added that things may not change unless laws are implemented to force companies not to implement predatory practices in games. "The only real course of action you can take is to write to your government," said Redditor drakonukaris. "These companies are not going to self-regulate themselves," they concluded.

Possible Solutions
While some are not happy with the current version of the battle pass, others are seemingly okay with it. Redditor Ok_Concentrate_9861 shared that not consciously thinking about the grind makes it so much easier to bear. "I'm at lvl 71 now and I just realized," they said.
Another Redditor chimed in that by completing daily and weekly contracts, players should get enough battle pass XP to progress. Those who do not like the grind can certainly use coins to skip tiers and the BP provides them with a considerable amount.
Redditor Supplex-idea does not understand why some players are complaining about the current battle pass. The Finals' first-ever BP is set to expire this March and people still have 80+ days to complete it. Assuming that they finish their dailies and weeklies, they should be able to get everything the battle pass has to offer.
Developer Embark Studio has yet to respond to the general community sentiment. However, the company has a tough task of balancing profits and player satisfaction, especially if it wants to have a healthy community moving forward.
What do you think? Is the game's first battle pass a chore to finish or is the progression just fine?
