The Call of Duty: Warzone map 'Verdansk' was removed by Activision last year, 2021. It was replaced by a map that is called 'Caldera.' Unfortunately, Caldera did not give the same impression that 'Verdansk' left. Many players have expressed the replacement map as 'disappointing' due to numerous factors. With the nearing release of Call of Duty 2 and Warzone 2, many gamers are begging Activision to bring back 'Verdansk'.
Earlier this month, 'Verdansk' went trending on Twitter after many top gamers, streamers, and other personalities like EDM artist Marshmello expressed how badly they want the said map to be back in the game. A petition has even started to amplify the said call. Many individuals have already signed the petition for a chance to drop in 'Verdansk' one more time.
Activision Is Yet to Response to the 'Bring Back Verdansk' Petition
Currently, developers from Activision have yet to respond to this online movement. Many players are hopeful that we can glimpse the map's return any time soon, as Activision has been known for secretly working on new maps and releasing them at a moment's notice. Just like what they did in the release of some other current maps. But this is not to raise the hopes of many fans rooting for 'Verdansk.'

According to a report from Digitaltrends, despite requests from fans, Verdansk has not been mentioned in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5. Verdansk's return to Warzone is unlikely to happen in a traditional 120-player battle royale format, but it might happen as a programmed limited-time event. Unsurprisingly, Activision hasn't replied to the community's wishes because it is concentrating on creating Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 and sustaining the current Caldera, Rebirth Island, and Fortune's Keep maps from Call of Duty: Warzone.
'Verdansk Is Not Perfect, Caldera Is Not Better' - Fans
'Verdansk' is definitely not a perfect map. We had witnessed a lot of gamers bring to social media their frustrations with the map when it was a fan-favorite map during the pandemic. Many say that 'Verdansk' is just a bunch of multiplayer maps glued together to form a bigger map. In some older posts, gamers even complained about how 'Verdansk' matches are just a bunch of downtown and staircase fights which were just lame, they proclaimed.
If the said map is not entirely great and also has a bunch of faulty features, why is it then that many fans are eager to bring it back? 'Verdansk' is everybody's favorite map during the pandemic. A bunch of friends would team up together to drop in the map, and many formed new squads because of the said map. Maybe this movement from fans is not necessarily fueled by missing the map's game design. There is a chance that many want it back because of sheer nostalgia.
In a news commentary, PC Gamersn stated that the Warzone map that was influenced by Eastern Europe and resembled PUBG's Erangel in the aesthetic was last used on December 8, 2021. It has since been replaced by Caldera, which was just updated as part of Warzone season 4. Because Caldera is based on 2021's Vanguard and has weapons from the WW2 era rather than modern ones, some Call of Duty fans has expressed their frustration with it.
That is one more thing. Along with removing 'Verdansk', the game also removed modern weapons, which many players love using. According to some fans, another thing that makes 'Verdansk' better than Caldera is that the map does not have many meaningless spaces. Like long fields between POIs and an abundance of bushes set for campers.
It is still unclear whether Activision heard the clamor from the fanbase. Stay updated here with the latest developments on this matter.
