It's official, the Vault Hunters will be mobile on the PS Vita when Borderlands 2 releases on Sony's handheld this May. The word came from a post on the PlayStation Blog earlier today, revealing a special Limited Edition Bundle for gamers here in the States.
The bundle arrives in stores on May 6, and the game will be a digital download May 13. The bundle features the latest model of the Vita, the slimmer and lighter Wi-Fi model that released as a Japanese exclusive in October.
The difference between the two models is hard to take in visually, but they're there. The PS Vita Slim, or PS Vita 2000, is 20% thinner, 15% lighter, features an hour increase in battery life (some have reported higher), a micro USB Type B port (so any standard micro USB cable can be used to charge the Vita), 1GB internal storage memory, and a LCD screen over the original Vita's OLED screen. The bundle will sell for $199, and includes a 8GB memory card.
The news is also good for those of you that have the game on PS3, but haven't found the time to finish all the content yet, as cross-play will be supported. Still, the best deal is for players who never bothered to play the game, as the Vita version will come with six pieces of the game's previously released DLC: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, Psycho Character Class, Mechromancer Character Class, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1, and the Collector's Edition Pack. That would leave Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep and Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt as the only DLC not to be included.
No word on whether the game would include the Headhunter Packs.
Borderlands 2 sees new vault hunters Maya, Zer0, Axton, and Salvador helping the OG vault hunters to take on Handsome Jack, a ruthless dictator whose seized control of Pandora, and the rumored protagonist of a recently announced Borderlands prequel.
