Earlier this year, a so-called Halo 2 challenge popped up with a hefty chunk of prize money for anyone who could do it. It was said to be so difficult that many folks called it an "impossible" feat. Well, tell that to this Twitch streamer right here.
PC Gamer reports that the now $20,000 Halo 2 challenge has been beaten by Twitch streamer JerValiN. The challenge is to beat the entirety of Halo 2 on Legendary difficulty, with all 13 of the difficulty modifier Skulls activated. Basically, it's playing Halo 2 on steroids intended only for either the absolute toughest bunch - or for somebody who just likes pain.
The aforementioned Halo 2 challenge was first thought up by YouTuber and Twitch streamer Charlie 'Cr1TiKal' White. He first offered up $5,000 to anyone who could beat the challenge. But after several weeks of nobody being able to, he bumped the reward up. And in truth, the feat was so close to not being completed as well.
Here is an excerpt of JerValiN finally achieving the insane feat:
As you can see there, he was able to finish Halo 2 in just under 7 hours of playtime with the difficulty level absolutely turned up. But while he did show an impressive amount of skill, he also made use of several tricks and even glitches to achieve the feat. For instance, the Halo series veteran used the exploit that lets him bring a full-health Banshee into the Tartarus fight.
Either way, the $20,000 Halo 2 challenge helped Twitch's viewership soar through the roof. According to DotESports, the streaming platform saw people flock to the Halo 2 category, watching it for over 287,000 hours just in the month of July. Multiple streamers attempted the LASO (Legendary All Skulls On) run, failed and deemed the challenge impossible. JerValiN obviously took that to heart and conquered it.
But as per the streamer who managed to do the impossible, he's apparently not done. JerValiN is said to be planning an even harder version of the Halo 2 challenge, which restricts him from firing his weapon the entire campaign. Dang. Now, we'd like to see that.

What Is A Halo LASO Run?
As previously mentioned, a LASO run challenges Halo players to complete any game in the franchise on Legendary difficulty, with all difficulty-modifying Skulls enabled. It's such a legendary feat very few have accomplished, and is actually something that was included as an achievement in the Master Chief Collection.
Called the LASO Master achievement, you can only earn it by completing all four LASO lists from the four main Halo games (1, 2, 3, and 4), as per True Achievements. Each Skull ups the ante in terms of difficulty like lower ammo count, more enemy health, and other modifiers. Anybody who has this Achievement show up on their gamer profile can be considered a legend among mortals.
It is universally accepted that a Halo 2 LASO run is the absolute hardest of all, which further puts JerValiN's $20,000 run into perspective.
