Those who preordered the Spider-Man PC version on Steam might have been a little confused - and felt a bit cheated - when the price for the game came down recently. And now, it seems like they're being asked to pay for it again if they want the lower price tag.
Eurogamer reports that prices in the UK, Australia, Israel, Poland, Norway, Switzerland, and New Zealand have dropped to £49.99 from £54.99. Anybody who preordered the game early in these locations are advised to cancel their preorder to get a full refund, then preorder it again at its new discounted price. This might have caused confusion among several folks looking to play Spider-Man on PC, but it's good that Steam is letting them get a full refund.
The official reasoning for the price change, directly from Steam, was "incorrect pricing" in the aforementioned markets. As such, Valve's digital storefront basically just "fixed" the pricing error with the price drop. This means Marvel's Spider-Man on PC was never intended to be a full-price release.
The impending release of the Spider-Man PC port is flying a little under the radar as of this moment. But this doesn't mean the game is something that a lot of players should ignore. Fresh off the success of the remastered version from the PS5 (and the astronomical success it first had on the PS4), Insomniac Games' take on the iconic web slinger is the latest in the pantheon of former PlayStation exclusives finally making the leap to PC.
Insomniac Games made the announcement last June, during Sony's State Of Play presentation. It was an out of the blue reveal that not a lot of people were expecting, considering Insomniac themselves said back in 2017 that the game will "never come to Xbox or PC." Well, it is never coming to Xbox, but PC users are indeed happy that half of this tweet happened:
With the Spider-Man PC port launching this month, PlayStation would now have several of its biggest triple-A releases on PC - something that five years ago would be impossible to think about.

More Details About Marvel's Spider-Man On PC
Ahead of its impending release, Marvel's Spider-Man on PC has received a few updates and a feature trailer detailing what kind of goodies PC gamers can expect from the port:
Insomniac promises that the Remastered version on Steam will have, among others, improved shadows, full ultrawide display support for 21:9 monitors (oh, just imagine New York rendered with that much FOV), as well as support for hardware-accelerated, ray-traced reflections. But that's not all.
The game also promises an unlocked frame rate, as well as support for NVIDIA DLSS and DLAA (turning on RT is going to be so demanding on performance anyway), and full support for the PS5's DualSense controller on PC. So that means not only will you be able to play with the original PlayStation buttons, but also feel all that haptic feedback PS5-style.
Marvel's Spider-Man on PC releases August 12th.
