After a while of teasers and vague pronouncements, popular streamer Dr. Disrespect's FPS game has now been revealed with an official title: DEADROP.
The game's first teaser trailer has been shared on Twitter by developer Midnight Society, who bills DEADROP as the world's "first vertical extraction shooter," reports DotESports. This verticality is pretty obvious in the game's title, but it still takes a few inspirations from other shooters like Escape From Tarkov.
Here is the teaser trailer, which showcases what looks to be the visual target for the game's maps:
As you can see there, Dr Disrespect's FPS game (which is headlined by former Call Of Duty and Halo developers at Midnight Society) will eschew the sprawling, wide open maps of shooters like Warzone and Tarkov and bringing things up. Way up. In simpler terms, players will be frantically moving up and down the game's maps against others, which is a clear departure from today's games.
On Midnight Society's website, the development team shared a few bits about the multiplayer shooter's lore. And it looks to be quite "deep" (pun totally intended):
"The year is 2020.b. 40 years into the Climate Wars, population and pollution levels skyrocket. Cities erect massive Refiner States - megastructures built to extract toxins from the stratosphere. These towers are self-governed 'city-states' with only one export: space dust. A concentrate from the refined pollutants is bricked, cut, and sold to an addicted [sic] populous of the sprawling urban cities surrounding the structure."
The Refiner States (aka the super-tall megabuildings) will obviously be the maps in Dr Disrespect's FPS game which the studio says will be built using Unreal Engine 5. So this game will play far different than your normal PvP first-person shooters in Warzone or Halo, while also looking decidedly next-gen.So perhaps you shouldn't expect last-gen ports for the PS4 and Xbox One to come, and you better get to saving up for that PS5 or Series X.
No release date or window has been revealed for DEADROP.

Other Details About Dr Disrespect's FPS Game
The Doc's multiplayer FPS is being kept under lock and key pretty effectively. But Midnight Society did let somebody play what looks to be a build of the game early, as per this Twitter post:
You can see the promised verticality of DEADROP in this hands-on preview, the video of which was posted by ESports organization OpTic Gaming (formerly known as Envy Gaming). The game does look pretty amazing with Unreal Engine 5, though no gameplay elements were discussed in the short video shared above.
If the game is anything like what the Doc is, then it's going to be incredibly fast-paced, violent, and ultra-competitive. Going at PvP maps a different way by focusing on verticality instead of wide-open spaces is going to keep players more on their toes. That's because aside from watching out for enemies in front of them, they also have to look up.
