Hello and welcome to yet another #RePlay feature!
In case you've missed out previous #RePlay articles, #RePlay is pretty much a weekly feature of video games from the past, including those playable on older PlayStation and Xbox consoles. We feature games playable on other Nintendo consoles as well!
Each #RePlay feature answers the question of whether or not a particular game can still be played at this day age. Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes, it's no.
For today's feature, we have a game released all the way back in 1997 that features a pink-haired feral child as the main character. If you guessed the PlayStation video game Tomba!, you are correct!
#RePlay Feature: Tomba!
Developed by Whoopee Camp and published by Sony Entertainment Corporation, Tomba!, as previously mentioned, was released in 1997 for the PlayStation. Specificially, it was developed by video game designer Tokuro Fujiwara after he left Capcom, according to an article by iTech Post.
The story of Tomba! is relatively straightforward. The titular character goes on a journey recover the bracelet of his grandfather that was stolen by evil anthropomorphic pigs known as the Koma Pigs.
As for gameplay, Tomba! is an open world Metroidvania game that takes place in a side-scrolling perspective. Tomba has the ability to jump, which he actually uses to defeat the enemy pigs. What you have to do is to jump onto a pig and then toss them. Tomba can likewise use weapons to attack the pigs.

Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return
Tomba! was praised by critics upon its release and even became a cult classic among fans. Given that, it's no surprise that a sequel was developed and eventually released.
The sequel, Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return, was in Japan in 1999 and in other parts of the world in 2000. Like its predecessor, the game still features its titular pink-haired character. This time, however, Tomba has to rescue his girlfriend, Tabby. And yes, the ones who take her are the evil pigs again.
Like the first game, Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return was playable on the PlayStation. To give you an idea of how the sequel was like, here's the intro:

Is It Still Possible to #Replay Tomba! Today?
If you're interested to play Tomba! once more or even try it out for the first time, you'll need the PlayStation Network to do so these days. Tomba! made its ways to the PlayStation Network in 2012, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog.
Wondering about the game's sequel? You will likewise need the PlayStation Network to play the game as well.
There has been no news as of press time if the game will be remastered or rebooted altogether. However, we'll be sure to let you know should there be any developments regarding it.
