The raucous multi-versal brawler MultiVersus, where you get to play as different characters from Warner Bros. IPs a-la Smash Bros, has announced its open beta date after the conclusion of the closed alpha.
As reported by PCGamer, developer Player First Games has announced that July 26th will be the date for the MultiVersus open beta. And it will be free to all players on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. But those who really want to be among the first will have the opportunity to get early access on July 19th. For more details, Player First Games advises that fans to to the game's official website.
Here is the announcement trailer for the MultiVersus open beta:
Game director and studio co-founder Tony Huynh also revealed that anybody who participated in the closed alpha will get early access to the open beta. But those who didn't but still want to get in for the open beta can still opt in on the game's website. There's no end date for the beta as of the moment, so you don't have to worry about running out of time.
Prior participants to the closed alpha on console will automatically have the game updated and ready to download in their library, as per the FAQs on the MultiVersus website. There are also early access opportunities that will be given away via Twitch Drops, which will be conducted by participating Twitch streamers with Drops enabled. All you have to do is watch the stream for 60 minutes and you'll get access.
The MultiVersus open beta is also doing it a little differently when it comes to being played on console. Whereas almost every other multiplayer game on PlayStation or Xbox will need a PS Plus or Live subscription to play online, the open beta for the Warner Bros. Smash-like will not. It is not made clear whether this will apply to the game's eventual full release, but it is a nice thing to have.
As for those playing on PC, here are the system requirements for 1080p 60 FPS at High settings, and 720p 60 FPS at Low settings:
High: i5-3470/Ryzen 5 1200; GTX 660/R9 270; 8GB RAM
Low: i5-23-00/FX 8350; GTX 550 Ti/HD 5850; 4GB
