The co-creator of the original Halo series could be among the people that will help bring single-player campaign back to the Battlefield franchise.
It's not really a done deal in this case, but there's a few circumstances that could back this up, reports DualShockers. It all starts with a new job posting from EA asking for a Design Director position, which is a job at the industry giant's Battlefield Seattle Studio. The job listing explicitly states that the Design Director will help build "rich exciting stories with memorable characters," and will also be responsible for managing the design team and vision for a new Battlefield campaign.
Now, onto the role of Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto. Back in October of last year, he joined EA as a game director for a new studio based in - you guessed it - Seattle. The studio is said to be focusing on first-person games. Now, which else would this remind you of?
Either way, the Design Director will likely work with Lehto, as well as the Seattle studio's GM to fulfill their duties. As per the job listing itself on EA, the Design Director will also have to "embrace the core tenets of the Battlefield franchise and make sure they are woven through all layers of a masterfully designed single player campaign."
Anybody who wants to apply must have at least over 10 years of experience in a Director-level or large-team leadership level role, and a clear passion and understanding of single player campaigns - something that EA has been in trouble with both in the Battlefield franchise and in general stuff.
By "in trouble," we mean that the company recently got roasted when it apparently made fun of single-player games with this tweet:
Eventually, the company responded with some sort of an "apology" saying that those who play single player games actually makes them "an 11":
This is a developing story.

Why Was Single Player Axed From Battlefield Anyway?
Before the absolute travesty of a game that is Battlefield 2042, EA's premiere shooter franchise and foil to ActiBlizz's Call of Duty did have a single player campaign. The last time it had one was Battlefield V, though one may argue that the last "good" single-player story was in Bad Company 2.
EA opted to drop the campaign for 2042 entirely because they wanted to focus on adding depth to multiplayer, as said by design director Daniel Berlin to Eurogamer. Also, it's worth noting that despite not having a single player campaign, 2042 does have an overarching story - one that was the subject of the short film Exodus on YouTube starring the late Michael K. Williams:
Well, it seems like the dev team's decision to drop the campaign was only ever appreciated by reviewers. That's because for the few things the game does well, bugs and an overall broken state eclipsed all. The game was technically horrendous at launch, with EA scrambling to recover whatever is left to try to salvage its still-dwindling player base.
Perhaps a good-enough campaign with Halo's Marcus Lehto part of the team will be enough to bring the franchise back into gamers' good graces.
