Far Cry 5 for consoles, cloud, and PC has been confirmed as the next big Ubisoft title to come to Xbox Game Pass, as it is scheduled to arrive on the service on July 1st - following the inclusion of Assassin's Creed Origins.
This has been revealed in Microsoft's latest Coming To Game Pass update, which GamesRadar reports also shared news about other big upcoming titles to the service. Among the games to come with Far Cry 5 are Total War: Three Kingdoms (which already released today on PC), FIFA 22 (console, PC), the Shadowrun Trilogy (cloud and console), and Naraka Bladepoint which comes June 23rd.
As previously mentioned, Far Cry 5 is the next headliner Ubisoft title to come to Game Pass since Origins was added last June 7th. It was one of the better-reviewed instalments of the franchise, taking players to the fictional place of Hope County, Montana which was taken over by a Doomsday Cult known as Eden's Gate.
The player is tasked with taking down the said cult led by the fanatical and charismatic Joseph Seed, who alongside his family controls Hope County via preaching combined with intense violence against non-believers. The game launched to good reviews in 2018, with GameSpot calling it "Superb" and giving it a 9 out of 10.
It was praised for its dynamic open world that allows for player experimentation, while also giving players an "organic" feeling of discovery - something that not a lot of modern Ubisoft open-world games have. Its gunplay was also lauded, alongside the Specialists and Gun For Hire system which lets you call in AI-controlled reinforcements to aid you in battle.
This new Game Pass inclusion comes after Microsoft announced an "extended partnership" with the Assassin's Creed and Far Cry dev last April (via XboxWire). The collaboration will see more games from Ubi come to PC/Xbox Game Pass for the foreseeable future.
Far Cry 5 is out now for the PS4, Xbox One, via backwards compatibility on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.
