Gotham Knights Game Has No Connection With CW Show Of The Same Name, Says Devs

The developers of the Gotham Knights game want nothing to do with the CW show, and for good reason

The developers of Gotham Knights have clarified that their game doesn't, in any way, have a connection with a CW live-action TV series of the same name.

As reported by GameRant, the dev team at Warner Bros Games Montreal has expressed a desire to distance themselves from the CW series - a show that was announced last year to very, very bad reception from fans. As such, it makes a lot of sense for WB Games to want to make it clear that they're not connected to it, since the game looks to be a bit better received.

Here's the statement of the developers:

Message from the Belfry: the #GothamKnights game and the upcoming TV show of the same name are separate projects with no connection to one another. We can't wait for you to experience the action of our Gotham Knights soon.

Either way, the two IPs having the same title could become an SEO nightmare for the owners. So WB Games Montreal's decision to clear the air is a wise choice. This is also considering how the Gotham Knights game has experienced some developmental setbacks ever since being announced back in 2020 with a World Premiere trailer:

Gotham Knights has already been delayed to this year after an initial release window last year. Next up, WB Games decided to cancel the game's port on last-gen consoles - effectively making Gotham Knights a next-gen exclusive for PC, the Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.

The game's new release date is October 25th, but some gaming publications such as PCGamer are arguing that it needs another delay. They're saying that the game's recent Red Hood and Nightwing gameplay showcase left much to be desired, but that's a topic for another time.

The Gotham Knights Show Backlash At A Glance

To say that the CW Gotham Knights show wasn't well received is a massive understatement. It's a shame that YouTube has removed the dislike counter on videos, because it would've made it apparent how fans saw the show's first reveal trailer. See for yourself:

One of the commenters, whose comment has earned over 5.5k likes, said that the Gotham Knights show "feels like a Disney movie where every character is the child of a popular old character, and that the scion of one old villain is not as bad as their mom/dad." Many agreed with the sentiment, likely doing so after seeing the characters being portrayed onscreen - in truth, they look like they wouldn't be out of place in a show like Descendants.

According to Forbes, the trailer looked so bad that it's like something that arrived to the current timeline from the year 2006. They're also mentioning how almost every fan of the iconic Caped Crusader is trashing the CW show, as made evident by the comments on the video.

Good decision by WB Games to distance themselves from what looks to be an absolute trainwreck waiting to happen.
